Balmoral is deeply committed to its community through corporate-level involvement with local schools, universities, charities and cultural events.
Balmoral chairman and managing director, Sir James Milne, is also chairman of Aberdeen-based charity, Friends of ANCHOR, which supports the cancer care department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as well as funding associated research projects at the University of Aberdeen and the Robert Gordon University. The company’s financial director also sits on the Friends of ANCHOR fundraising committee.
Balmoral employs several full-time personnel for the charity, covering PR, development and fundraising, as well as providing office accommodation and support ensuring that the charity bears no administration costs.
Founded in 1997, Friends of ANCHOR has raised several millions of pounds, with every single penny going to the charity, a highly impressive performance from a relatively small local charity.
Here are some great examples of how Balmoral Tanks supports its local communities:
Project 14 is a charity that raises awareness and funds for mental health charities that help people in Barnsley and the Dearne Valley. They organise community-based fundraising events to support projects with a focus on mental health and wellbeing.
Balmoral Tanks assisted by sponsoring a football match which was in danger of being cancelled as several sponsors had pulled out at the last minute.
Ben is a small automotive charity that has, for over 100 years, helped and supported families at times of financial and emotional need.
Trust Ford in Barnsley teamed up with Ben to participate in a sponsored 25-hour drive, the aim being to get as far as they could across Europe. Trust Ford made it to the border of Spain travelling via Disneyland Paris and the Millau Viaduct.
Balmoral supported the project and, in return, had our logo displayed on the car throughout the journey.
Balmoral assisted St Helen’s Church in Thurnscoe to allow it to continue making an enormous difference in the community.
Our donation will be used to carry out significant repairs to the church hall which is used by various organisations such as children’s groups and keep-fit classes. Regular events are well attended by the elderly which assists with isolation and loneliness experienced by many.
Save The Children works towards helping and protecting children in over 100 countries. Their goals are that, by 2030, no child should die from preventable causes before their fifth birthday, every child should benefit from a quality education and violence against children will no longer be tolerated.
Balmoral Tanks’ Llantrisant facility held a raffle consisting of gifts that were generously donated by suppliers. Each raffle ticket sold for £1 that contributed towards a donation to Save The Children.
